There’s no way that could be a $5 gift! The spatula would be $5, and all those fancy cupcake wrappers would be $20-$30 (at least, they would be at any regular store in Canada!). Then there would be the cost of the lunchbox, booklet, and decorations. Cute gift, but not a $5 one!
minou: you can find some of these items such as the spatula and cupcake holders and decorations at the dollar store….I don’t know where you live but i’ve never seen cupcake holders for $20-$30, nor do I know any person who would spend that kind of money on cupcake holders.
I love the ideas for the cookies, bread and cupcake making kit. I’ll be trying these out for birthday presents and Christmas for sure. Thanks for posting it.

The fancy and colourful ones are $1 a package at minimum for 24 (and that would be a great sale — I buy them for that in the US when I’m there), they usually come with one design per package, so there are at least 20 packages of baking cups in that box for them to stay put to that height.
The only time I ever saw a cake decorating spatula at a dollar store was about seven years ago. It was a wooden handled one with a straight blade — not the more desirable and expensive offset blade. I guess the small dollar store had found a closeout deal on Wilton items, but I’ve never seen it since.
Believe me, I’ve been deal-hunting for years and into cake decorating for the last nine years. There’s no way a person could just go out shopping and pay $5 for the items in that box.
The supplies in the kit are from bakeitpretty.com. The “booklet” in the kit is actually a set of tips and a pastry bag for decorating cupcakes. It sells on the site for $19.50. The paper cupcake wrappers are there as well.
I think the idea is to inspire and be creative. You can make this gift as inexpensive as you want or spend a little more if it’s a really close friend. I love the link to the site for other cute ideas too!
