6 ways to have fun this summer – for FREE!

Ways to have fun this summer.

Ahhhh, summer. What is it about summer that makes me want to get out and do stuff all the time? Who knows, but summer is FUN. Unfortunately, if you’re not careful, summer can also be EXPENSIVE. Here are some great things to do this summer that will not cost you anything:

Picnic in the park

Picnics are so much fun when the weather is nice. Just pack up a few snacks and drinks from your fridge and pantry, some cutlery and tableware, a blanket if you’ll be on the ground and a tablecloth if you will be sitting at a table of some sort, and head to the park. It’s also a good idea to bring some wipes with you to clean your hands and face!

Swimming

If you’re lucky enough to have your own pool, that’s where I’d be spending the majority of my summer! If you have friends, family or even a neighbor with a pool, I’m sure they will let you come over for a swim! Bring some snacks or something to say thank you.

Camp in the backyard

Camping is exciting and it’s just as fun to do in your own backyard – and it’s free! The only bad thing is that you probably don’t have a fire pit, but that’s okay! Hanging out in the backyard all evening and then sleeping in a tent is fun no matter where you are. Give it a try!

Read a book

The public library is a great place to hang out, regardless of what time of year it is, but summer is a great time to go because most libraries have free activities planned for kids. Reading clubs that offer prizes, puppet shows and even crafts!

Sprinkler fun

Get out that sprinkler and run through it like a crazy person. Cool off, have some fun and do it for FREE! You can also fill up a small kiddie pool for your kids to play in, if they’re not big enough for the sprinkler yet.

Enjoy the outdoors

Take a walk somewhere new and enjoy the scenery. Bring the camera and take some pictures. Don’t forget to slather on some sunscreen before you head out the door! Sunburns are not very much fun.
