Ampli Review: A New Way to Earn Cash Back

If you’re looking for ways to make a little extra money in 2020, you’re in luck. Never before have Canadians had so many cashback apps and rebate websites to choose from. You may be familiar with names like Rakuten, Drop, or Checkout 51, but there’s a new player in town: Ampli.

In this Ampli review, I’ll show you how you can earn cash when you shop at your favourite retail stores and have a chance to win, with Ampli Dreamstakes. Ready? Let’s dive in!

What Is Ampli?

Ampli is the newest cashback app available to Canadians. Powered by RBC, Ampli links to your debit and credit card and rewards you with cashback whenever you shop at an Ampli partner. Other cashback apps require you to scan coupons or fill out surveys for points, but with Ampli, all you need to do is spend as you normally would.

Ampli Promo Code

When you open your Ampli account, you’ll get a $5 welcome bonus if you sign up using the promo code AMPLI5. With a small minimum cash out of $15, it means you’ll be getting paid in no time.

Opening an Ampli Account

Getting started with Ampli only takes a few minutes. Once you’ve downloaded the app (iOS or Android) onto your phone, you’ll be asked to provide some personal info, such as your name and email address.

From there, connect your debit and/or credit card to the Ampli App and you’re ready to go. All major Canadian financial institutions are supported by Ampli, so you should have no problem linking your accounts. Remember to enter the promo code AMPLI5 to receive your $5 bonus.

Ampli will ask for your postal code. This is optional, but it does help Ampli find offers from retailers in your local area, giving you more opportunities to earn. As soon as your debit card is linked, you’re ready to earn. Ampli will keep track of your purchases and credit you with cashback on qualifying purchases.

How Much Can I Earn with Ampli?

The standard cashback rate is 1%, however, Ampli will let you know about limited-time Featured Offers that come and go. These offers can be worth 5% and up when you spend over a certain amount. Not all Ampli members will see the same offers each week. Some brands are always available members, while others are targeted. Ampli does make an effort to personalize the offers you receive.

How to Get Paid with Ampli

When you spend at Ampli partner stores, the app matches your purchases to current Ampli offers, and rewards you with cash into your Ampli account. According to Ampli, it takes up to 5 days before the cashback is added to your Ampli account. When you reach $15 in Ampli earnings, you can move the funds to your chequing account via Interac e-Transfer. It’s that simple.

Ampli vs Drop vs Rakuten vs Checkout 51

You don’t need to weigh these options against each other, they all work great together! You can stack your rewards by using Ampli in conjunction with other cashback programs that pay you to shop. Rakuten and Checkout 51 are good examples.

You’ll earn cashback with Rakuten and Ampli when you shop online with Ampli merchants via the Rakuten website. Trust me, it’s not as complicated as it sounds.

With Checkout 51, you earn when you upload your receipts after making a purchase. If that purchase was from an Ampli partner, you’ll stack your rewards. In addition to regular cashback, Ampli offers members another way to earn, with Dreamstakes.

Ampli Dreamstakes

Dreamstakes makes earning cashback even more fun, by giving members a chance to win various cash sweepstakes by accepting in-app challenges. Participation is optional, but the more challenges you complete, the more ballots you earn. Shop multiple times at one retailer, fill out surveys, and share Ampli on social media. These are just some of the activities included in Ampli Dreamstakes.

List of Ampli Partners

Ampli has partnered with over 50 participating brands to offer cashback to shoppers. Listed below are just some of the current retail partners I pulled from the Ampli website. As you can see, there are a lot of popular Canadian retailers on the list, so it shouldn’t be hard to find a few that you frequent.

  • Westjet
  • Petro-Canada
  • Rexall
  • Best Buy
  • Michaels
  • ToysrUs
  • Lube
  • Boston Pizza
  • Home Depot
  • Hello Fresh
  • Roots
  • Golf Town
  • Panago Pizza
  • Long & McQuade
  • PetValue
  • The Source
  • Fairmont Hotels

Is Ampli Secure?

This is a question that always gets asked when it comes to cashback apps. Is it safe? Ampli uses the same level of encryption used by Canadian financial institutions, which means that your personal information is very secure. If you ask me, the fact that Ampli is owned and operated by Canada’s largest bank (RBC) only adds to their credibility, from a security standpoint.

Advantages of the Ampli Cash Back App

There’s a lot to like about the Ampli Cash Back App. To summarize, here is a list of what I see are the main advantages of using Ampli:

  • Free to use
  • Low minimum payout of $15
  • No work involved; earning cashback is automatic
  • Convenient payout via Interac e-Transfer
  • All cash, no need to deal with a complicated points system
  • Solid list of Canadian retail partners means plenty of places to earn
  • App is powered by RBC, which adds to credibility

Final Thoughts on the Ampli Cash Back App

There you have it, my review of the Ampli app. I’m a big fan of apps like Ampli because they take the work out of earning cashback. There are no surveys to fill out, no coupons to clip, all you need to do is shop from Ampli’s list of participating retailers. Of course, you’re not going to get rich using Ampli. But the cashback you earn can help fund your Starbucks habit or cover your Netflix subscription, and that’s a good thing. Remember, to multiply your cashback earnings, sign up for more than one cashback app, and look for ways to stack rewards whenever you can.
