Frugal breakfast ideas

Frugal breakfast ideas.

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, but it doesn’t have to be the most expensive.

Here are some frugal breakfast ideas that you can serve up without having to worry about breaking the bank.

Pancakes and fresh fruit

Pancake mix is relatively inexpensive, but you could save even more money by making your own (we love these fluffy pancakes). Splurge on good maple syrup. And of course, if purchased in season and on sale, fresh fruit is always an inexpensive (and healthy) addition to pancakes.

Cold cereal

If you use coupons, you will notice that there are often many great coupons for cereal. Combined with a sale, these coupons could net you a box of cereal (or 2, or 10!) for very cheap – maybe even free, if you’re lucky.

BLT

Bacon, lettuce, tomato and bread – it doesn’t get much cheaper than that! Just make sure to purchase these items on sale, of course, and you will have one tasty breakfast sandwich to enjoy!

Bacon and eggs

Bacon and eggs is something I think everyone should enjoy every once in awhile. This is not exactly the most healthy meal, but it’s okay to indulge sometimes. You can even have bacon and eggs for dinner one night when you’re in a bind because you forgot to take meat out of the freezer.

Toast and fruit drink/smoothie

Toast with jam (or whatever else you’d like) alongside a nice tall glass of fresh fruit (pureed with orange juice & ice cubes, or milk & yogurt) is a tasty (and very cheap) way to start your day. An added bonus? It’s healthy!

Breakfast burrito

All you need for this breakfast dish is some scrambled eggs, tortilla shells, a bit of cheese and some veggies (tomatoes, peppers, green onions). Top your tortilla with these ingredients, roll it up and enjoy this frugal breakfast.

Yogurt and fresh fruit

When purchased on sale, yogurt is often very inexpensive. It goes great with fresh fruit, but you could also add crushed cereal or granola as well.

You should always eat something for breakfast, no matter how big of a hurry you may be in.

There are many reasons why you should eat breakfast, so don’t skip this important meal!

Great ideas. Publix here in the Southeast has Buy One Get One Free sales on cold cereal all the time. Here’s a great idea. Pancakes with fresh fruit mixed in before cooking. Then add hot syrup and powdered sugar. Absolutely delicious and low cost.

Oatmeal (steal cut in crock pot over night), instant…whatever you choose. Also cream of wheat or cheap frozen waffles with fruit or French toast 🙂
