When people find out how often I use coupons, they often ask me if I find using coupons worth my time.
The answer is always a resounding yes, absolutely.
If I didn’t use coupons, I wouldn’t be able to shop in my basement.
Or colour my hair for free.
Or moisturize my skin for free.
Or eat bowl after bowl of free cereal, and then washing those bowls with free dishwasher detergent.
I wouldn’t be able to pay $40 for $240 worth of items.
And I certainly wouldn’t be able to be paid to shop… like this $170 haul I was essentially paid $25 to take home after mail-in rebates.
How much time do I spend hunting for deals?
– 15 minutes per day ordering/printing coupons online
– 1 hour per week clipping and organizing coupons
– 1 hour per week planning our weekly menu, my shopping list and pulling coupons
– 1-2 hours per week to grocery shop
So for 3-4 hours per week, I am able to buy groceries at less than 50% off the regular price, try products I would not normally buy due to price, shop in my own home when I run out of something and donate to those less fortunate.
So, yes, couponing is worth it.
