Good to know as my store refused the last printed coupon I tried to use. Maybe I should print this off and keep it in my bag!

  2. Tami

I work at no frills, we also don’t give rain checks :/ Liked your response Stephanie! LOL, half the time I ignore the one coupon per perchase thing…lol

  3. orchidgirl

Good to know…my nofrills never take printed coupons..now I can say “ah yeah ya do.”…lol

  4. Sarah W.

Too bad about the “one coupon per purchase.” I didn’t think it meant per ENTIRE purchase but I guess No Frills thinks differently.

  5. Charlene

So we can’t stack MFC & CZC? The Nofrills I go to allows it ( i always show them the Loblaws coupon policy from this site.

  6. Ashley

Lol I love the part about “we do not have any coupons to email to you”. I think most large companies just use email templates to respond to inquiries, because half the time you get responses to emails that don’t make much sense.

Thanks for posting this! It’s good to get clarifcation on the printables, I’ve never had a problem using printables at No Frills, but I do know others who have had troubel.

  7. teachermum

No Frills is actually my favourite place to use coupons-no issue with printables, never limit the amount, always apply the full amount. They seem extremely well trained. Now if they would just get rid of that $10 limit before needing to override…

My Walmart hasn’t seen the new policy…

  8. Jeanette

I have never had a problem buying multiple items of the same thing and using several of the same coupons…if they told me that I couldn’t then I would just tell them I don’t want to buy the product then and then I would go to Walmart and price match.

  9. Sarah

I think this is silliness of one coupon per item per transaction is a Loblaws wide policy. I went to RCSS last night and they tried to refuse using two coupons on the same item (one from the board out front and one from a tear pad I got a completely different store but would count as a “manufacture” coupon. They have done it before and after threatening the kid to bring the manager over to clear this issue up he accepted it. It really frustrates me that when youre trying to get a discount (not extreme couponing, trying to achieve a balance) on a block of cheese they have to give you flack. Also, that there isnt a printed guidline for all the stores to follow (they just do what they want and it could change from day to day without much notice) They will get their money either way, it seems like they do it just to show they can! I emailed RCSS when I got home and I have a feeling I will get a similar response. If thats the case, I will start going to other stores, price match, and only going into Zehrs/Loblaws to get their coupons or if I absolutely have to.

  10. Krissy

Isn’t 1 per purchase, the item you are purchasing, can it not be more of the same item, ie 10 juice, using 10 coupons, they would be considered 1 per purchase would they not.

  11. Ashleigh

Interesting. I’ve used more than one coupon for more than one of the same item before, and they’ve never complained! I’ve never tried to double up on coupons though.

“If any of the coupons you are redeeming (whether issued by the retailer or manufacturer) state “cannot be combined with any other offer” than you are not able to redeem a second coupon on that item or transaction.” – does this refer to completely separate things? Maybe I’m reading it wrong, but the wording is a little confusing. It seems like it’s saying if I have a coupon, for say, cheese, that says “cannot be combined with any other offer,” then I can’t use one for cereal or something. That’s the same transaction…

  12. Elaine

Just to update a post I made on another thread regarding Food Basics…yesterday I used an internet coupon (Ziploc $4 WUB2) without any problem, today they refused it. I asked to see their coupon policy and when they brought it out for me it does say internet coupons are non-redeemable. Good to know for the future (at least I got to use one yesterday!)

  13. Cassie Howard

Stephanie – It’s a good idea to carry the policy with you when you shop. 🙂

    Tami – Boooo no rainchecks!

orchidgirl – Yep, just bring the policy. 🙂

Sarah W – No Frills is wrong, but this is the policy from head office, so if that’s how they want to do things, it’s up to them!

Charlene – They did not mention anything about stacking manuf. with coupon zone in the email. I will have to check back with them about that.

Ashley – Seems like most stores are hit or miss when it comes to printables. As long as you have the policy, though, you are are usually okay.

teachermum – You have a pretty awesome No Frills! I agree, they need to ditch the $10 coupon limit. It’s very annoying.

Jeanette – I haven’t had a problem either, but if you ever do, you have to accept what they say because technically that IS what No Frills head office said. 🙁

Sarah – I agree, I really wish all stors had a policy that they all followed. It would make things so much easier!

Krissy – Yes, that is correct. However, No Frills doesn’t see it that way (unfortunetely).

Ashleigh – I believe it applies to one item, however, the cashier you show the policy too may interperet it to mean you can only use ONE COUPON TOTAL in 1 transaction. That would be VERY frustrating!

Elaine – They must have an old policy.. this one is right from head office.

  14. canadiancouponmamma

No Frills is my absolute least favourite store to price match or use coupons at. Each time they get the manager and 98% of the time they try to keep my flyers for price matching and if they do let me keep my flyers they write all over them with pen and it is such a hassle. They do not take internet coupons here in Mississauga/Brampton, they have told me that double sided coupons only are allowed. AND if you don’t go on the first day of the sale first thing in the morning you miss out on all the good deals. No frills thumbs down for sure!!! Fresh Co on the other hand is stepping up to the plate and these days I prefer it over Wal-Mart! But again they run out of sale items same day the sale starts:(
And Cassie you are awesome!! 🙂

  15. Starbaby55

Its sad how they are STILL backwards in their thinking about “one per purchase”. It frustrates me when stores are STILL saying its one per transaction. NO. ITS. NOT. But hey, if you want to back up the line while you do 50 transactions for me, no problem 🙂

  16. Cassie Howard

canadiancouponmama – Awww thank you! And yes, I agree that Fresh Co. and No Frills run out of sale items quickly. Which is why I prefer to always price match at Walmart. 😛

Starbaby55 – I know, it’s totally riduculous. Doesn’t make sense. All they are going to end up doing is frustrating YOU, annoying themselves (the cashier), and annoying the line that keeps growing behind you. Ridiculous!

  17. Joanne King

A “transaction” is a purchase of a single item. If you look at a receipt it will have a printed line item for each transaction, one for for each item you purchase. Unless otherwise stated, “per transaction” means per single item. One item per transaction means you can’t use more than one coupon on a single item, but you can use six coupons per six items because it’s six transactions.

However try explaining that to some clerks. *sigh* Annoying when they argue, especially when it’s no loss to them with a manufacturer’s coupon.

“One per customer” means you can only use one per store visit. Not sure what “one per purchase” means.

  18. Amber

I always use coupons when I go shopping, I am a mother of 4 and they are a GREAT way of saving money :), but today I am planning on using alot more then I usually do in an attempt to save even more.
My Question is, At Nofrills this week they have tubs of Huggies wipes on sale for $2.00 they are the 64+count ones. I have 8 coupons for $1.00 off. Can I use 8 coupons to buy 8 different tubs or am I only going to be able to use one coupon per transaction (Im still fussy onw hat transaction means, does it mean per item or per bill) I no that you cant coupon stack thats not the issue I just want to get 8 tubs at $1.00 each lol. Thanks for any help.

  19. Cassie Howard

Amber – Yes, you can do that! I bought 25 at No Frills this morning. 🙂

  20. Amber

Thank you sooooo much for your help! I have never been more excited to go grocery shopping with four kids before lol

  21. cheryl lynn

hi there – i was wondering what the policy is regarding price matching and bringing your flyers in for no frills. i went to two different stores today and one store gave them back and actually let another lady in line use mine and the other store refused to return my flyers and got snotty about when i asked for them back. any help would be greatly appreciated and if u have an emal address for their head office i can email them myself for a copy of their price match policy.
thanks very much for all the info shared.

  22. Cassie Howard

cheryl – They should not have taken your flyers.

  23. MARLENE

i went to no frills this morning.. they refused to take the coupon printed of the internet as the cashier kept insisting its a photo copy. i called and spoke to a manager and he said they do NOT accept internet coupons…..

  24. Cassie Howard

Marlene – I suggest calling head office about your issue.

  25. A.K.

I went to no frills yesterday and price matched a few items but the cashier wouldn’t let me have my flyers back as she said it’s their “new policy”!

  26. channy

I was at Dollarama in hamilton the other day and they had carnation instant hot chocolate… On the box was a cut out for a free Bistro Cheeseburger Slider 4 pack, I used it no frills the next day and got it totally free… Although the policy states no coupons saying free may be used there wasn’t an issue…I guess the cashier didn’t know or its possibly just different per store…
anyways have fun couponing!!! Thx mrs.January

  27. Samantha

I was at No Frills a couple days ago and I was told that I could use only one coupon per visit. The cashier told me one coupon per family. I think this is ridiculous. I called customer service and the representative told me that I could use more than one coupon per visit as long as I am not coupon stacking.

  28. Theresa

    Hello
I work at No Frills, and I always thought that you could use CZC and MFR Coupons, today I used both of them together on one item. and then at first got told no, buy one of the other cashiers, and I said I am positive that his is allowed, and then she kept telling me its not, so she called another person and they told her yes. So she put it throught for me, after my shift my manager was kind of upset but not really and told me that its not allowed but not to worry because she cant make me pay back the money because whats done is done. So when I got home I thought I would give head office a call, and see what they had to say, they told me they have changed the coupon policy in the last couple of months, and that is no longer accepted, because it is coupon stacking. So I asked the to email me an updated version of the coupon policy. Now I am going to call Loblaws and ask them.

  29. kelsey

hey there fellow couponers i just have a quick question about double or tripling coupons for no frills.. as it does NOT state 1 coupon per 1 item like all the competitors… unless i read it wrong.. i could fight the policy,no?…just curious as to if it had been tried before. or if anyone has any tips or tricks to do so… i do know know that walmart does and will give back overages in cash…. but anything else???? thanks!!!!!!!!!! -Kelsey

  30. Cassie Howard

kelsey: I would not suggest doing that, as it is going against what the manufacturers are intending for coupon use. Unless the coupon states “more than one coupon can be applied to one product” (or something along those lines), you CANNOT use more than one coupon per item, even if the coupon does not have the line “cannot be used with any other coupon”.

  31. skyrim23

    Quick question,
I don’t know if anyone will get back to me but it’s worth a shot.
I’m new to couponing and was wondering if there is a sale at No Frills, for example the 1,2,3$ sale happening tomorrow at my local No Frills, can I use coupons for these sale products? In reading the policy I do not see anything about not using them but as I said I am new and don’t want to push my luck.
    Thank you sooo much!!

  32. Cassie Howard

    skyrim23: You sure can!

No Frills is absolute my least favourite store to use coupons at.

I wish all their cashiers will follow strictly what were in their policy instead of making up their own rules on the fly. I have the feeling if I am a Caucasian, the cashier will have a much different attitude and decision regarding coupon rules.

Last year I went to No Frills in Calgary and tried to use several 50 cents off coupons. But the cashier only allow me to use only one coupon on that product. I did not go there anymore as it is not close to my home. Not to mention about the time, just the gasoline costed me a dollar.

Now we have another No Frills opened in Calgary and is a little closer to my home. I went there this week planning to buy 2 bag of Oreo and use the Kraft printed manufacturer coupon save $1.5 WUB2. However, the cashier did not allow me to use the coupon because the item is already on sales. I asked did they mention this in their coupon policy and she repeated twice to me “Don’t you understand that the item is already on-sales for $1.5”. To be honest, I really don’t understand why I cannot save $1.5 on 2 bags of Oreo, which cost $3.
Did anyone see anything in the policy that support her decision? If yes, please let me know.
I hope No Frills will provide better training to their cashiers to ensure they really know what the policy are and follow faithfully.
If they have trouble to provide good training then they should post the policy somewhere in the store so that we can help them to learn to follow the rules.

So recently at the $1,2,3 sale at no frills they had the Chapmans ice cream sandwiches on sale for $1 per box, with the $4 Chapmans coupons that clearly stated “Worth of up to $4 on any Chapman’s products” I had the hardest time using those coupons!! The lady argued with me so I asked for her to please bring the manager (As her English wasn’t very good and I was sure she wasn’t clearly understanding what she was reading. First she proceeded to tell me she couldn’t and the manager was on break, however I insisted. FINALLY she called the manager and whispered the dilemma to her instead of speaking out loud for me to hear as well, however the manager loudly announced “No we DO accept those coupons for up to 4 products” the cashier then turned and gave me an awful glare and simply stated “well I had to check because your coupon is not worth losing my job over” (Which I never said it was, I had simply asked she get clarification as I didn’t believe she understood the wording. SO FINALLY i’m done, paid, bagging my items and I hear….the cashier talking to the next customer in line. she says “It’s people like that who make my job harder and make the other customers have to wait”. Ummm excuse me!!! I was furious. Regretfully I left without saying anything as I found myself too angry and might become incredibly rude, so I chose to be the bigger person and walk away. But I am VERY disappointed with ” Dennis’s no frills in Coquitlam BC. This is not the first time I have had problems with their cashiers accepting my coupons and not wanting to call the manager for me. Luckily now I have found ONE lovely lady that is a cashier there and anytime she is working I go to her line, even if it’s the longest one there. Anyways just thought I would share my story as I’ve read others have had some bad experience’s.
