The Power Of Coupons
“What do you do with all of that stuff?”
That’s a question I get asked all the time when I post photos of the deals that I get using coupons.
I do many things with those items:
1. I keep the items for myself and family to use.
2. I donate items to a local shelter or through Freecycle.
3. I donate items to friends and family.
Donating is something I have not done much of in my life because I have just never had the money. Even donating $20 here and there was painful for me because that meant I was giving up something else up in my budget (groceries, clothing, entertainment).
Now that I use coupons, I am able to get a ton of stuff for free or very cheap, which means I can actually donate stuff on a regular basis.
I keep whatever I know we can use before it expires and the rest goes in the donation pile. Once the pile fills a certain amount of space, I bring it over to the shelter. They are always so happy to get a donation of any size.
It feels so great to be able to donate. The smiles and thank you’s I receive in return just warm my heart.
So remember the next time you are out, if you have a coupon that can yield you a product for free or very cheap, even if you don’t use that particular product – consider getting it anyway and then donating it to someone in need. I promise you will make their day.
