Although I didn’t read as much as I wanted to in 2014, I did manage to read quite a few books and many of them were some that completely changed me (and that is not an exaggeration!). I tend to read a lot of business books, because that’s my passion, and business fascinates me, but last year I read a few books in other categories that I really enjoyed, as well.
If one of your goals is to read more this year, I’ve got some inspiration for you! These are my top 5 favourite books that I read in 2014. I’m excited to read even more awesome books this year!
This is one of the first books that I read this year, and it is one of the best. I just loved reading Gurbaksh’s personal story to entrepreneurship. He’s a fantastic writer and the stories he shared made me want to keep reading (sometimes late into the night!).
I finished this book in no time at all – it’s very inspiring!
If you are struggling with finding order in your home, you need to read this book. I honestly didn’t have high hopes for this one (it was recommended to me, so I thought I’d check it out), but it turned out being one of the best books I read all year.
I learned a lot about the way my family works, and we have made some changes in our routines because of the recommendations in this book, and they have changed our life for the better!
Early in 2014, I was struggling with lack of clarity in my business. Since I was no longer really using coupons, they became less of a passion for me personally, and it was affecting the work I was doing on MapleMoney.
I had been dreaming of transitioning to a business coach (teaching other mom’s how to create successful online businesses), but feared that it would backfire. Reading this book changed my mind, and made me realize that sometimes we have to move on from our previous passions to fulfill new ones.
This book gave me the push to start my own coaching business, and because of that, I am happier than I’ve been in a very long time.
Okay, so this isn’t really the type of book I usually read, but as a cat lover, I had to check it out. I actually picked this book up for my mother-in-law (another cat lover) for Christmas, and read through it myself the night before I wrapped it up.
It is hilarious! If you know someone that loves cats (including yourself!), this makes a fun gift. My mother-in-law couldn’t stop laughing as she read through it!
Yep, I’m going there. SEX. S-E-X! We all do it, what’s the shame in talking about it? I love how this book really made me think about sex as a personal thing. How important it is to first feel good about ourselves before we can feel good with our partners.
This isn’t one of those “100 new sex moves to try!” books, but instead, a book with tips on making sex easy, exciting and fun! Even if you have a super busy life, there’s always time for a bit of lovin’!
My goal for 2015 is to read 30 or more books by the end of the year, and I’m well on my way. Reading is so therapeutic for me – I just can’t get enough. If a book has really sucked me in, sometimes I will forego sleep, just to read a little bit more!
Reading has SO many benefits (mental stimulation, knowledge, vocabulary expansion, and better writing skills, to list a few), so pick up a book and make reading a part of your every day! Even if it’s just for 10 minutes, that time is a time for YOU – and you are worth it.
What are some of your favourite books from 2014?
