Why I love dollar stores

Looking to save money? Head to the dollar store.

They have so much stuff, and it is all inexpensive. The quality is actually very good as well, these days.

Dollarama is my favorite dollar store. Not too long ago they raised some of the prices in their stores from $1 to $1.25, $1.50 and $2. I have never seen anything over $2.

Here are some of my favorite things from dollar stores:

Baskets: The best place to buy small baskets is the dollar store.

Pregnancy tests – I know some people are weirded out by pregnancy tests from a dollar store, but – they work. And they’re only a dollar.

Kitchen gadgets – Scrubbers, soap dispensers, dish drying rack. Lots of good quality items for under $2.

Stationary/school/scrapbooking supplies – They have so much of this stuff for less than $2 (usually around $1). The dollar store is the perfect place for a crafter.

Party supplies – I won’t ever buy party supplies from anywhere but the dollar store (unless it’s cheaper, which is not likely).

Those are just a few of <em<my favorite things.

Here’s some more great deals from dollar stores:
– Shampoo/Conditioner (name brand)
– Body Lotion (name brand)
– Toothpaste/Toothbrushes (name brand)
– Soap (name brand)
– Greeting Cards/Gift Bags
– First Aid Items
– Make-Up (some is name brand)
– Nail Polish
– Books
– Home Decor Items

I love Dollarama! I buy all my office supply stuff there: envelopes, paperclips, etc. And their bandaids that are only $1.25/box are just as good as the actual BAND-AID brand! I also buy all my greeting cards from Dollarama because I can’t justify spending $5 on a card that’s going to get thrown in the garbage. Soooo many great deals there.

I love Dollar stores as well! I love how you can buy groceries there 😛 Hah.

PS: Cassie, I’m not sure if you have done this already, but I think it would be a neat idea if you could do a post about Swagbucks. I just signed up and I’m kinda confused about how it works. Maybe you can make a post about it? 😉

I love the little things you can get for art projects…with a baby that likes to paint I really do not have to feel bad that all of “his” art supplies are a buck a piece. Sure, the paint brushes aren’t the upper echelon of quality, but they work perfectly fine for him!:)

Quite a good article and reader comments that you have here. I would point out that other people may make a varying viewpoint, particularly in terms of gardening. Has anyone here found good information on the Web, and could you let me know where?

There are so many brand name products at dollarama. I find you do have to watch though because, here in Alberta at least, there are still occasional items that are less expensive elsewhere. Storage bags, scrubbies and eyeglass wipes are just a few of my favorites. If you like the spam type meats and canned corned beef you’ve found your place. I find on average most brand names are 1/4 to 1/3 of the price they are anywhere else
