Freshco Canada Price Match Policy.

Freshco Canada Price Match

Here is the price match policy for Freshco Canada:

Freshco Canada Price Match Policy

Our “Cheaper Guaranteed” promise means if a major supermarket competitor within this store’s geographic trade area offers a lower price on any item that we carry in our store, simply show us their price on their flyer/ad (current) or receipt (within 7 days of purchase) and we will sell you that item for 1¢ less.

Applies to identical items (same brand, item type (in the case of produce, meat and bakery), size and attributes) or comparable items in the case of private label. Does not apply to prescriptions or gift cards.

Exclusions:

Excludes ‘spend x get x’; and ‘free’ promotions and discounts obtained through loyalty programs. We reserve the right to limit quantities. “Our major supermarket competitors”, “geographic trade areas” and “comparable items” are determined solely by us and are based on a number of factors that can change from time to time.

We reserve the right to make changes to this program without prior notice.

There is a limit of 2 items per price match at our local store.

Freshco price match is joke, I went to shop Mississauga store and they woun’t price match value mart grocery. When i ask cashier to show where is your web site or anywhere it mentioned you dont price match this store?? when manager came he even didnt offer the price match.
Just to say from customer point of view they dont understand customers value or simply their price match is joke.
      Thanks

      • Dave

I had the same problem. Managers don’t care about customer service. That’s why I no longer shop there. I went as far as to contact someone from corporate online and they weren’t helpful at all either.
        Lost a customer here.

This is not true..we have decided that unless things change right now not only will we not shop at freshco we will tell everyone how you lie and do not keep your word- first of all your flyers only go till Wednesday and the new flyers don’t arrive till Friday so when I go in on Thursday the sale price is not honoured….second I have been taking in my flyers from other stores to price match the whole time we have shopped there and in the past they have honoured this until this week I was told only two and then they lied and said that has always been the policy….do they think I am stupid!!!!!! I have always bought things in fours…now saying only two is new…and how is that price matching if there is a limit.

    • Darlene

2 of each as long as it is a different flavour or scu. So if they have eight different flavours you should be able to get 16

  3. davey

I was behind a guy last night at the FreshCo in Oakville (Third Line & Dundas). He was price matching and had 4-6 of some of the items, and didn’t appear to have a problem.
Maybe each specific store has their own policies?

    • Cassie Howard

Yes, it does seem to vary by store.

I went into freshco to purchase two cases of coke with my price matching ad from shoppers drug mart not knowing freshco policy.First I get to the cash and the cashier tells me they do not price match shoppers drug mart only major grocery stores.but in the stores they have signs that they will price match if you find a lower price they are pink and they are everywhere with no exclusion on these signs. Then is it right for the cashier to tell you that they will not price match no put up a sign by the cash with your policy on it.As for the argument of major grocery stores only holds no water as shopper drug mart sells everything that freshco sell except produce. Then to add insult to injury they did not even have the price for the cases of coke on the shelfDo us all a favor and take down those pink signs that say price match or change them to read only piece match grocery stores only

    • Darlene

I believe I read where they will price match as long as it is a store with 10.000 square feet .I’m gonna look for the post.

I went through check out at freshco and price matched and tried to use a coupon they told me you cannot price match and use a coupon. I didn’t not realize this was there policy. it makes no sense since they are reimbursed by manufacturer.

    • Sherri Ross

That is absolutely absurd. I live in Windsor and have used coupons with a price match too many times to count!!! I am so sorry you had to experience this.

  6. Lynne

My Freshco in Courtice will price match up to 2 of each UPC, so for example I was price matching Ensure and could get 2 of each different flavour. They allow manufacturers coupons on top of that too.

  7. ranger

Freshco in Peterborough won’t price match with Canadian Tire (Folgers coffee), but, Canadian Tire price matches and gives back an extra 10% in Canadian Tire money.

  8. Jessica

I am a cashier at FreshCo. I don’t see how any of the above comments are a problem, as everything is explained in the price match policy (which can be found on the last page of our flyer).

In terms of the quantity of items you are allowed to match, it is 2 items per UPC. That means that you can get more than two of an item if it is a different flavour. For example, if you are buying price matching Chapman’s ice cream, you may get two chocolate and two vanilla, because different flavours are different UPCs. It says in our policy, “We reserve the right to limit quantities.”

In terms of which competitors we match to, as our policy states, ‘“Our major supermarket competitors”, “geographic trade areas” and “comparable items” are determined solely by us and are based on a number of factors that can change from time to time.’ We do not match to Shoppers or Canadian Tire as they are not major supermarkets. Also, we will only match to stores within the area. For example, if you live in Milton, we will only match to stores that are in Milton. Bottom line is, each store has the right to determine who they price match to.

At my store, we will use a coupon on top of a price match. I don’t know the policies of other stores.

Finally, I cannot stress enough the fact that even though all cashiers are trained, that does not mean you will not get a bad or ignorant cashier. Many cashiers simply do not care about the job at hand, and yes some will not follow the rules and give you more that 2 items, or not pay attention to which stores you are matching to. Just because you got away with it once, or saw another customer get away with it, does not mean that it will or should happen again. Just because a cashier made a mistake once, does not give you the right to demand that you get the same deal again, when it was wrong in the first place.

Then you should change the sign on the side of your building. You know the great big giant one that says FIND A LOWER PRICE WE WILL BEAT IT it doesn’t say specific stores it say a LOWER PRICE WE WILL BEAT IT . Your company of liers you shouldn’t make promises your not willing to keep.

  10. Amy

Thank you Jessica for your explanation. The 2 per UPC tip is very helpful!

Fresh Co is the cleanest bargain store with freshest produce. I’ve always appreciate it. With the price match, I no longer have to go to disgusting stores like Food Basics or No Frills.

Lea, what are you talking about? Can’t understand you when there’s missing punctuation or proper grammar.

  11. fatima

I agree completely change your stupid green sign and another thing i noticed when there’s a good sale at no frills and you go to fresco to match lol they mysteriously ran out or the truck hasn’t arrived yet they are so full of shit!

  12. Mina Babu

    Freshco is superb.
We regularly shop at Feshco store at Glen Erin Dr and Britannia Rd in Mississauga. Not only the staff are very cordial and helpful, but they match the price without any hassle. They match price with Walmart, No Frills, Food Basic, Longos, Lob laws, Terra Food Mart, Oceans, Adonis and Real Canadian Superstore. We never have any problem in the store and they are very cooperative in finding the stuff and gladly bring fresh vegetables or fruits from their storage if it is exhausted. I am very happy with Freshco and their staff. The only thing I am not happy is they have stopped keeping some south Asian stuff. But, over all, in all respects they score 9.5 out of 10.

  13. Rashmi

    Yes. Mina.
I very much agree with you. I am a hard task master and generally I am difficult to apprecaite. But I appreciate Freshco store at the same address where you shop. They are wonderful people and I love shopping there. However, don’t go on Monday as you may not find fresh produce on Monda as everything gets exhausted during weekend. Otherwise great in price matching and service.

  14. Mike

Went into freshco to price match old mill bagels had a compliments pack to match and was told they dont price match them well if you dont price match store brand for no frills old mill then why do u price match old mill bread with compliments bread nowhere does it say they are not a comparable I have been in this business for 28 years its a svam that they two face on things

  15. Susan

Every store should list stores they price match with. That way there is problems

  16. Shruti

Same happened with me..I went there with Walmart flyer for prize match.I wanted to buy Purex which was on half price.I took 4 to d counter.Cashier told me that I can take only 2.I said okay I’ll come back and do other bill…she hide that under d couter. …when I asked she said bring another from shelf..there was only 4.OMG….she was very rude with me..then i asked for manager,She said he is not in…I said I’m going to leave my full cart of grosery…Give me my money back…then other cashier came and talked to her….Other girl did my separate biling and I got all 4.I had bad experience over there.I never go there again.

  17. Tammy

Amy your comment to Lea was rude she has a right to her opinion just like you do. She makes perfect sense you making comments about missing punctuation or proper grammar wasn’t necessary. I’m sure you will have a rude comment about my remarks as well but I don’t care.

I wouldn’t join this group now because if people don’t have a right to make comments without insults why bother? Your suppose to be adults and your acting like a child.

Lea is right these stores put these signs up and then don’t honor them.

  18. Haider

Stupid cashier refused price match today for price I showed from Walmart.ca website for 18 xlarge egg tray. She wanted to see a walmart flyer not price from website. Price match policy of Freshco says flyer/ad. When walmart shows a discounted price on their website, aten’t they ADvertising it?
Location I always go to is Ellesmere and McCowan in Scarborough. Thinking of never going again to Freshco. Amount difference was small and I paid Freshco price but refusing walmart website as not a form of AD was ridiculous.

  19. Melanie

Fatima, I agree 100 % I have been saying for years that e everytime fresh co has a sale they never have the item in stock. I did complain to fresh co regarding this. Lately I see they have things in stock more, because they had to compete with Walmart’s add match. But now that Walmart canada is discontinuing there add match program we will see how things go at my fresh co.

  20. KIrk

Went to freshco (whitby downtown) said they do not price match Sobey’s left all items ,left store will not go back.

  21. Paul Anderson

I went to Freshco in Guelph today , tried to price match butter that was on sale at Zehrs. I would have thought they were major competitors and are just a few blocks from one another. I was told they do not price match Zehrs. , seems odd to me that they dont consider Zehrs “a major supermarket competitor within this store’s geographic trade area “

  22. Emad

The grocery at Niagara 5931 klaar rd is unorganized and everyone touching fruits and vegetables with their hands very dirty and people don’t follow directions. Beside that the price tags always wrongly placed never go back to this shop again, score 0 out 10 compared to other stores

  23. Jean

FreshCo store at 2500 Hurontario St, Mississauga, ON L5B 1N4 made mismatching prices between price on marker and casher machine at last 3 times in a month. For example, the price marker on the water mallone was $2.49/each on Thus and Friday which matches the ads on the web. However we paid more than $4 for each on Thus because the casher macine set up higher price. I believe it is not mistaks! It is on purpose!!!!

Now we have to check the price on the receipt each time and go less to the store. Hope other customer checks your receipts to mach what is on the price marker.
