Save-on is my usual grocery shopping store. I find they are pretty good at accepting all my coupons. I did have a problem on my last trip though. I had a coupon for 4 dollars off Tums, which were on sale for 3.99. the cashier wouldn’t let me use the coupon as it “exceeded the price of the item”. I thought that was a bit ridiculous, but overall they are pretty good.
Save on is WONDERFUL!! What a great policy they have outlined. I wish more stores would word it like this.
They have great customer service. I always try to shop early in the morning or later in the evening after 9pm. Then I don’t feel bad for holding up a line up.
Thanks for posting this.
Marcy
Save on used to have good prices, now they don’t even compare.
i no most places will just punch in 3.99 for a 4 dollar coupon they wont if it exceeds it i would think they can just punch in the price or not give the overage
I haven’t shopped in Save-On in years simply due to their high prices but I did love their selection. Recently I have been in there due to convenience and started redeeming various coupons to see how they handled the process and if I would get any grief – particularly with internet coupons. They didn’t even blink when I presented internet coupons. Safeway will not accept them but Save-On didn’t even question them. Something positive to note, that is for sure.
When did save on change their policy to allow stacking?
When did save-on change its policy to accept stacking?
Save On has allowed stacking for a while–I am thinking since sometime this past spring.
Note that comment about the wordings that are not accepted. It seems like now that 80-90% of coupons coming out now have that type of wording. I guess that is really the manufacturers intent–to provide an incentive of a coupon for an item.
Will agree with others that Save On can be expensive. I watch the flyers, and primarily like their bulk section for baking supplies that I don’t want a large amount of.
Does Save On accept competitors coupons?
Jennifer: Not that I’m aware of!
I shop at SOF all the time, especially on sale items (which can be great deals). My kids love all the free samples they give out on the weekends. I have never had any problems redeeming coupons there and have had the cashiers accept a coupon that exceeded the sale price. They told me they can adjust it (I checked before it was rung in) and that was no problem. I love that I can finally stack all my grocery coupons, not just the ones LD carries. If they price matched, my shopping life would be almost perfect!
Hi. Last night I was told at SOF that they had a coupon policy change and that stacking is no longer accepted. I have emailed SOF to confirm this. I know there has been a lot of confusion around the wording on the coupons. I will keep you posted as to what I find out.
If a coupon says “Limit one coupon per purchase” are you able to stack it with different UPC coupons?
Courtney: Yes. 🙂
Why is Price Smart wanting to keep any flyers we are using to PM an item? They said they have made changes to their policy but if you read SOF policy it does not state that at all
i have 2 different tear pads and a insert to use for an item but the manager says i cannot use these, as the tear pads are both for the same product, but they look different, different coloring and different picture on it and a different upc…. he insists that they are manfacture coupons and wont take them.. i wouldnt push it but these coupons are going to expire on the 30th and i wanted to use some….. i can stack these at all the other sof but the one in vernon bc wont let me…. doesnt a manafacture coupon have to state that it is a manafacture coupon???
danielle: Not necessarily; it depends on which source is providing the coupons.
Thank you….by any chance do you have a printable PRICE SMART Coupon Policy???Ran into a problem with using “printables” there last night and was told “NO STORE IN CANADA WILL ACCEPT COMPUTER PRINTED COUPONS”!!!!!!! I know this is NOT true but I would like to show them their own “coupon policy” if there is one…..They are the same parent company as SAVE ON (Overwaitea Food Group) as are Cooper Foods and Urban Fare. It would be GREAT if they ALL had the same DEFINED policy as SOF.
I will look into it!
Please be advised that effective 3 Oct. 2012 there was a new policy issued to the stores. My recent experience has been negative as the customer service staff have failed to read the detailed information provided on page two of the policy, thus have failed to allow stacking.
In my opinion page two is extremely important as it states ” More than one Manufacturers Coupon can be accepted per item (stacking)…..and the Coupon states ‘ Limit One Coupon per Item Purchased’ ” ,There is an example of an actual manufacturer coupon displayed directly below the statement.
My experiences have been that staff are only referring to page one of new policy, thus will not allow stacking based upon ” ‘only one coupon valid per purchase’ ” as stated on page one.
I strongly believe that Save On head office is required to send an internal memo to provide clarification for all staff and to provide the consumer the correct information.
I’ve had a difficult time using coupons that say “only one coupon valid per purchase” at Save-on. I guess I did not understand what it meant. I figured I could use one coupon per item purchased. I did not think it would be an issue if every item had the coupon. But no, I had to complete 5 different transactions in order to use my coupons. The coupon should say “only one coupon per transaction” instead.

If there is NO stacking of coupons involved, the following would be applicable
One coupon per purchase is exactly what is states: 1 bottle of shampoo= 1 item= 1 purchase =redeem 1 coupon
If you purchase 5 shampoo, then you can redeem 5 indivual coupons
As an example; If you want to purchase and pay for ( which would include the redemption of 5 coupons) 5 shampoo and 1 chocolate milk = 1 transaction
Appears training need on the part of the cashier
Hi Cassie,
Can you please confirm what “wording” can or can not be used or if SOFs still stacks?
Thanks so much for clarifying
I just called Customer Service Save On Foods, they have confirmed they are allowing stacking again as of April 26 2013. I wasn’t able to confirm the wording “they used to either not stack or give us a hard time if the coupon states “not to be combined with any other offer” have you been able to confirm if “not to be combined with any other offer” is stackable. “combined with any other coupon offer” is not stackable
What a shame, no more stacking, back to Walmart!
iS YOUR COMPETITIVE $25 ALLOWANCE FOR THE BREAD PRICE FIXING THAT WAS BEING OFFERED STILL AVAILABLE. i REGISTERED FOR IT AND DID NOT GET A REPLY.
